Emporium man accused of raping teen decades ago; claimed 'God made him do it'

CAMERON COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — State police in Cameron County say an Emporium man is facing charges, accused of repeatedly raping a teenage girl, decades ago. According to the affidavit, troopers were contacted in January to investigate allegations of sexual assault at a home along Rich Valley Road, in Shippen Township. Police say the victim alleged that between August 1997 and March of 2000, she was repeatedly assaulted by Richard Bennett, now age 77.

Man in custody following hours long standoff in Altoona

BLAIR COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — UPDATE #2 | The Logan Township Police Department has released more information regarding an incident in Altoona Saturday. According to a press release, the Logan Township Police Department was dispatched to the 1000 block of Rosehill Drive for a report of a suicidal male. Police said that the male, identified as Tershar Miller, 28, displayed a handgun and made several comments indicating that he wanted to die and made threats of a shootout with police.

New PA law increases penalties for those with repeated DUIs

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — Under a new Pennsylvania law, repeated D.U.I offenders now face stricter penalties. This past July, Act 59 of 2022 was signed into law changing the grading of certain offenses for those driving under the influence. The new law is also known as “Deana’s Law” – a woman who lost her life because of a drunk driver in 2019. An official WJAC spoke with says if these laws were implemented, Deana would still be here today.
