Indiana County, PA (WJAC) — Officials say the largest coal-fired power plant in Pennsylvania plans to shut down later this year. 6 News spoke to authorities about the potential effects this could have. Authorities say the Homer City generating station plans to wind down its operation and be closed by June. Authorities say one effect is replacing the over 1900 megawatts the power plant provides to the power grid, as well as leaving all employees at the plant without a job.

DuBois man accused of soliciting sex from online group posing as teen

Clearfield Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities in Clearfield County say a DuBois man is behind bars after he allegedly attempted to solicit sex from someone whom he believed to be a teenage girl. DuBois City police say 35-year-old Kyle Logan faces charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, corruption of minors, unlawful contact with a minor and child endangerment, according to online court records. Police say Logan reportedly exchanged numerous sexually explicit messages with members of the online group 814 Pred Hunters, who were posing as a 15-year-old teen.

Johnstown Galleria to hold fireworks show after years-long hiatus

The Johnstown Galleria has announced that it will be hosting a fireworks show for the first time in years this July. According to a Facebook post, the Galleria is partnering with a local company, Pyrotechnic Artists, for the fireworks display. Johnstown man killed in motorcycle crash on Route 30 in Westmoreland County

Westmoreland County, PA — Authorities in Westmoreland County say a Johnstown man was killed earlier this week in a motorcycle crash on Route 30. Investigators say the crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. Monday along the 3000 block of US Route 30 in Derry Township. Officials identified the operator of the motorcycle as 39-year-old Shawn Pynos. Investigators say Pynos was traveling westbound when his motorcycle went off the roadway and into a gravel area.

Police begin removing barricades at encampment at UCLA as protests continue on campuses

(TND) — Police have started removing barricades at demonstrators’ encampment on the campus of UCLA after an hourslong standoff. Law enforcement began clearing the encampment after hours threatening to arrest people who did not disperse over loud speakers. There were hundreds of people gathered on UCLA's campus in the encampment and the surrounding area in support of it. The sound of flash bangs could be heard as police moved in. Officers began ripping down the makeshift barricades protesters built with plywood, pallets, dumpsters and other materials used in an effort to keep police out.

Man faces over 130 years behind bars for multiple sex crimes against children in York Co.

YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — A York County man has been sentenced to 66.6 years to 133.2 years in State Prison after being convicted of sexually assaulting multiple children under the age of 16, according to officials. The York County District Attorney's Office says 43-year-old Brody Kline, of Dover, was also determined to be a sexually violent predator. Kline was convicted last year of sexually assaulting multiple children under the age of 16.

Two women charged for string of thefts from Ulta Beauty stores in Pa, other states

ALTOONA, Pa (WJAC) — Police say two Maryland women have been charged for their involvement in a string of retail thefts from Ulta Beauty stores in Pennsylvania and surrounding states, according to a press release. Logan Township police say on Feb. 20, officers were dispatched to the Ulta store in Altoona for a reported retail theft in which two black females threatened the employees with mace while they stole items from the store.
