Five New York women killed after getting hit by tractor-trailer on I-81 in Lackawanna Co.

SCOTT TOWNSHIP, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — Five women from Broome County, New York, from same family were killed after getting hit by a tractor-trailer when they exited their vehicles following a crash on I-81 in Lackawanna County. Officials said the crash happened Tuesday on I-81 North in Scott Township around mile marker 196.6. At around 5:15 p.m., a 2022 Honda Odyssey traveling north and containing four occupants had lost control and struck the median barrier, and the vehicle was left disabled in the left lane.

Hundreds of teachers joined the picket line today, outside of the Scranton School District administration building to demand a new contract. “Because the Scranton School Board and the central administration have decided to disrespect teachers and parents after five years without the collective bargaining agreement,” said Rosemary Boland, President of the Scranton Federation of Teachers.

Huntingdon County drug dealer arrested after high-speed chase, state police say

HUNTINGDON COUNTY, Pa. — A Man in Huntingdon County is facing several charges after leading police on a chase after they attempted to serve him outstanding warrants, as well as felony drug charges, police say. According to a criminal complaint, Tyreek Willis, 31, was approached by police at the Giant store in the Lake Raystown Shopping Plaza Tuesday when he fled the scene with a passenger in the front seat.

Johnstown restaurant announces plans for $1.2M expansion downtown

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — A popular Johnstown restaurant has announced plans for a $1.2 million expansion that would bring a large outdoor dining courtyard and top floor cigar bar to downtown. The owners of Balance Restaurant, Intrignia Incorporated, say the company bought the three properties located next to Mission Inn Event Space on Main Street.
