State College parking garage will remain open despite damage to 'structural beam'

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — One day after a crack was spotted in a structural beam, the McAllister Parking Deck in downtown State College remains open. Officials say the parking garage is 33 years old, but after securing the cracked beam, borough engineers say they can do the repair work without closing the entire deck. The McAllister deck has 230 parking spaces, and close to 40 of them are temporarily closed while the situation is assessed, and permanent repairs are made.

1 injured in Christmas Day crash in Huntingdon Co.

SHIRLEY TWP, HUNTINGDON CO, Pa (WJAC) — According to a crash report from Huntingdon state police, 1 person was injured in a single vehicle crash that occurred Christmas Day. State police say that the crash occurred around noon on Christmas Day, along Extract Road in Shirley Township, when the driver failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle struck a mailbox, reentered the roadway and struck an embankment on the opposite side of the road, before finally overturning.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — Police are investigating after two "abnormally skinny" children were found knocking on a South Carolina door this week, an incident report states. Officers said they responded to the 6300 block of Bay Road in Myrtle Beach around 12:30 a.m. on Monday in reference to abandoned children. When police arrived on scene, a woman told them that she heard knocking on the building's door before seeing two children at the window.

Local manufacturer brings jobs to Blair County

SNYDER TOWNSHIP -- Kunzler & Co. is creating dozens of jobs at its Blair County location, according to the plant's general manager, Dave Grazier. The expansion comes a few days after county economic leaders expressed concern over hearing that Cenveo and Appvion, both paper-related businesses, would be downsizing or leaving the area, taking jobs with them.
