Man accused of sexually assaulting woman at State College apartment, filming it

State College, PA (WJAC) — Authorities say a Washington County man has been charged in State College, accused of sexually assaulting a woman over two years ago. Police say 23-year-old Gabriel Uribe, of Charleroi, allegedly assaulted the woman at her South Allen Street apartment in October of 2021. Police say that Uribe also recorded the alleged assault on a cellphone. According to online court records, Uribe has been charged with multiple offenses, including felonies for involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and sexual assault.

Survivors of Mexico kidnapping recuperating in Texas

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (WOAI/KABB) — The FBI, Homeland Security and other federal agencies are waiting to hear when autopsies will be conducted on two victims of Friday’s kidnapping of 4 U.S. citizens in Mexico. As of Tuesday evening, Latavia McGee and Eric James Williams were still both at the Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas. Williams had been shot in the leg and underwent surgery, according to the FBI.

9-year-old girl shot in head, killed after getting ice cream with her father in Chicago

WASHINGTON (TND) — A 9-year-old girl was fatally shot in the head shortly after getting ice cream with her father in Chicago, according to reports. The child has been identified as Serabi Medina. Police said 43-year-old Michael Goodman was charged with first-degree murder in connection to the child's death. Authorities said the child was killed Saturday night. Megan Kelle, who lives in the area, told the Chicago Sun-Times Goodman shot Serabi after he complained about noise.

Fire in Pennsylvania hotel sends 5 to hospital

COUDERSPORT, Pa. (AP) — Fire officials say five people were taken to a hospital for treatment after an early morning fire at a northern Pennsylvania hotel that dates back to the 19th century. The blaze on the third floor of the Hotel Crittenden in downtown Coudersport in Potter County was reported shortly after 6:30 a.m. Wednesday. Chief Bryan Phelps of the Coudersport Volunteer Fire Department said 100 to 125 firefighters were called to the scene.

SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Visitors to Somerset Lake will see more work being done to a trail that will eventually loop the entire way around the waterway. Phase 2-B construction is beginning for a quarter mile piece of trail from the main parking area to the main boat launch along the water line, and back up through the woods to Wood Duck Road. County planning officials say there is also clearing taking place on the grounds above the trail for the future site of a multi-use pavilion.

Throughout the year, students are awarded and recognized with tickets for positive acts at school. On Tuesday, Julie Birchall, of Northern Cambria, and Cameron Strait, of Penn Cambria, were each given a key. The key that started the Hummer, won the Hummer.
